Ok, I say the entire SHC go in together to get that first castle. We can have our meetups there and at other times run it like a timeshare.
I can throw in a couple hundred euros. I don't think that will get us very far, haha.
sounds like a good time in lieu of money I'll be the groundskeeper and estate gardener!
I'll be the stuffy butler!
@Salticus They added this a little while ago at Subway:
And I found these chips at Target. They're pretty good.
Its a revelation I tell ya, a REVELATION!
I knew two different families who lived in castles in my school (maybe even grade) alone while living in Scotland. It's not uncommon at all. From what I understood, there is usually a living quarters area dealio where the family stays all the time, and the rest is open to public tourism. Also, those areas may well have been rented and not owned... Which makes loads more sense, come to think of it. But yeah.
^^ often attributed to the amount of maintenance, alot of those family manors/castles cost 10's to 100's of thousands a year in maintenance, IE roofing, structural integrity, safety regulation, so, the owners are often forced to contemplate tourism, or rental, or lose the property.
I always thought it would be neat, and the buy in price is often surprisingly low, the kicker is the maintainence costs - through the roof, so to speak.
Was going to mention this earlier (when first posted), but forgot.
Frozen Niagara Falls pics.
