Tulsi Gabbard (D) rep Hawaii votes 'present' on articles of impeachment.

What a travesty. Elected to protect the constitution, and rule on matters of state, and then, in order to I guess, make a half-assed arbitrarian self-serving political calculation? you vote PRESENT on the most historical vote probably of your career?

She just used her resposibility in voting up or down in only the third impeachment in our history AS A POLITICAL STUNT? For Christ's sake lady, recognize where you are, and what your current job is. (If she voted nay, I wouldnt have even posted.)

My condolences to Hawaii. Too bad your rep didnt come with a recall warranty and a sense of contextual duty. Way to look decisive and presidential too Tulsi; with decisions like that, the only 'House' you belong in is the Waffle House.

Get it? 'Waffle'? - I'll see myself out...

    Quite a civics lesson. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impeachment_in_the_United_States

Interesting thing that I didn't know...if you are convicted and removed from office you can't ever server in office again. If I'm reading it right...ANY office.

Much as I don't like resorting to the extreme of impeaching a president, it does seem like Donald Trump is the poster boy for it.

Sadly, the senate will not convict, period.

Considering the godamned obstructionist party have made press statements about how they are going to do whatever Trump wants yeah the trial is not going anywhere in the Senate.

What I don't understand is how they can take that position and not be violating their oaths of office during the trial.

Both what Lindsay Graham and McConnell have said recently, are literally breaches of the oath they will be taking before the Senate impeachment trial. there is no question.

If Justice Roberts himself is impartial, he would ask/require both to recuse.

Not likely to happen, but when that doesnt happen, anyone paying attention will know beyond any shadow of a doubt, whether these three individuals are doing their duty to this country as defined in their oaths of office, and oaths prior to the senate trial.

Hopefully, some with media soapboxes will pound this into the ground until a significant number of Americans will snap out of their malaise and realize whats going on, and call for more defined rules for future impeachments, and penalties for breaking congressional oaths. Or at least make it an ethical point argued in the media that carries itself to the ballot box.

Its a real longshot that they will convict, but given that the Republicans only have 51 in the senate now,
and given that the trial won't start until at least sometime in January, who knows how many crimes Trump may commit before then, or how many even more damning skeleton's may fall out of the closet, given so many of his associates are now in jail, having sung like canaries for shorter sentences?

    :p

It's a real longshot, but maybe not as long as it might seem... Dont dismiss 'Donny 2 scoops' ability to fuck this up just yet, lol

One can at least hope. This guy is a reckless buffoon.

    But, but, but...

Trump is a bigger martyr than Jesus

    https://slate.com/news-and-politics...barry-loudermilk-trump-bigger-than-jesus.html

And this impeachment is obviously an attack on our nation paramount to Pearl Harbor

    https://thehill.com/homenews/house/475151-gop-representative-compares-impeachment-to-pearl-harbor

There have been rumblings of more than a few GoP Senators who may vote for his removal from office. Senators, by design and necessity, are more far-sighted than the House, so it is possible. Trump staying in office, as well as his policies and stance, is just as damaging to their power and long term goals, as it is the Dems. Will it be enough to actually get him out, so the criminal suits can start? Maybe. A long shot yes, not impossible. For very obvious reasons any Republican willing to vote for Trump's removal is not going to do so publicly prior to the actual trial.

I still say one of the quickest ways we can make amends to the rest of the world is to turn him over to the ICC.

Who would have thought having such a person representing your party could lead to such problems, glad the rest of the GoP are not like him otherwise that could be dangerous.

    Oh yeah...

    Yeah.

This is getting super dark. All this info released last night, is pointing to ambassador Yovanovich being surveiled, threatened, and even evidence of a, lets be very clear, a violent hit-job being discussed by direct associates of the president, acting on behalf of the administration, on a US ambassador and official.

    https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2020/01/giuliani-parnas-hyde-yovanovitch-surveillance

    https://thehill.com/homenews/house/...ani-associate-lev-parnas-communications-notes

    https://thehill.com/homenews/admini...-investigation-following-evidence-released-by

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...45d19e-371e-11ea-9541-9107303481a4_story.html

This is also likely why, or partially why, the impeachment articles where not delivered immediately, so that this info could be released by the ruling judge to the public, prior to the senate impeachment trial.

Let us also be clear that these documents where also available to all members of the house during impeachment proceedings, and the republican House bad-actors WENT AHEAD WITH THEIR DISTRACTIONS, MISINFORMATION, AND BULLSHIT anyway.

Time for Americans, and their representatives in the house, the senate, and all other levels, to act to protect and serve the constitution, the integrity of their office, and the future integrity of the executive branch, and stop protecting those compromising our national security, our world standing, and the balance of the branches of the US government, and for some to stop acting, as if we are discussing whether the ball boy on the New England Patriots, was intentionally deflating a football to win an over-blown kid's game.

Its time to put down the Maga hat, and do the right thing.

(edited today - edit error occured yesterday, got distracted by it, and didnt proof-read)

Well...no. China was trying to say they had this early on. In fact there was that one doctor that said they did NOT have it and got in trouble for speaking up. Then he died of the corona virus.

Still, not the best thing for Trump to be claiming it's under control when:

    A - It's not
B - The Chinese made that claim earlier and then got egg on their face for it.

Not surprising though. Trump is easy to understand and easy to predict.

    Trump:

ALWAYS claims he has everything under control.
    ALWAYS attacks opponents/critics.
ALWAYS claims that he knows best.

    That's it. That's Trump in a nutshell. (<--see what I did there?)
