    Foreword

We are what the southlanders tell their children about when they wish to inspire fear. We are the hard people of the unforgiving northlands. We are the kin of barbarians and kings alike.

    We are The Snowhawk Clan...

The blood of our ancestors is strong and fierce in our veins, and their barbarian sons and daughters remain unconquered, or conquerors, depending on what paths we take.

We stand for honor and hearth; for kith and kin. Let none gainsay our word, and let none of our clansmen bring reproach upon our tribe.

We slay often and easily, but not without reason. We are savages but we are not fools, so we honor our allies as well as our honest foes, and trample the shiftless and fork-tongued without hesitation or remorse.

    Snowhawk Clan Guidelines

    1. NO EXCESSIVE RPK! (Random Player Killing)

Do not maliciously grief anyone just because you feel like it. We are ruthless barbarians, but we are honorable.
    2. The Clan is there for you and you are there for the Clan.

When a Clansman is in need it is your duty to help. When you are in need it is our duty to help you. While this isn't always possible, it should be the norm that help is available.

If the Clan is in combat you will be expected to drop everything and haul ass to add your sword to the fray.

Clansmen should always receive preferential treatment on loot. If someone has a need for something and you have one, gratis will be usual, though if you have serious need for some funds asking for a donation is OK.
    3. The Leaders are there for a reason! We do not expect mindless subservience, but there are times when you should listen.

PvP is the most crucial of those times!

The Leadership is there for you. Never hesitate to contact an Elder if you think something isn't right.

    Supplemental Guidelines

The Snowhawk Clan is a general gaming community (RP-PvP) playing a variety of titles and is governed by an egalitarian council of officers. The clan was founded on the principles of the Conan Lore by Robert E. Howard and we draw our core values and social norms from those stories. Every person will conduct themselves in an honorable manner befitting a tribal Warrior. Discipline and self-restraint should be displayed by our members at all times.

    New Applicant Behavior

When a new applicant posts in our public forums, their messages are in full view of the general populace. As such, please conduct yourself accordingly. As a new petitioner attempting to join our guild, you must impress us with your value to the Clan and display a good-natured personality... Does this mean bowing and scraping? HELL NO!

However, you are trying to become a Snowhawk and your behavior should reflect this. On the other hand, if some outsider gives you shit, we expect to stick up for yourself and the Clan WITH STYLE!

Do Not Publicly Complain About Other Members

If someone offends you or needles you on a personal subject in a manner that you will not tolerate, privately inform them to cease and desist. If they apologize, it is then your duty to realize they meant no harm, and not hold it against them in the future. However, if they continue harassing you, immediately contact a Clan Elder via a private forum message.

Again, if you have a problem with another clansman or clanswoman, even a moderator, War Chief or anyone, you should privately contact a Clan Elder before making any grandiose statements like being "sick of everyone" and making demands. Such loud decisions will not be taken lightly and such pettiness will not be tolerated. If you truly want to leave the guild, a viable alternative is to just stop posting and quietly egress.

Do Not Infer Malice Unless Malice is Implied

The Snowhawk Clan is full of barbarous, politically incorrect bastards. We are also jovial and should be thick-skinned. If someone makes a personal attack on your religion, your loved ones, your pets, your taste in liquor, food, games, women, men, clothes, or your sexual orientation then it is your duty as a Snowhawk to interpret their remarks as good-natured ribbing. You must assume their puns to be friendly poking, unless in explicit terms they leave no uncertainty as to their intent. (ie: "and I'm not kidding about that, you suck...")

In the eyes of the Snowhawk Clan, those who take offense to those who did not mean any harm and refuse to forgive are ALWAYS in the wrong. Now, if the person who offended you did NOT sincerely apologize, this should be reported to a Clan Elder. Leaving in a huff is not acceptable and do not expect to have your side heard if you choose to have a temper tantrum.

If someone really is screwing with you do not for one second think we will think less of you for reporting it as we want drama dealt with immediately. Nevertheless, you must realize that people around here have a rough sense of humor, but are at heart good-natured, and are only trying for a laugh.

REMEMBER: Once again -- Someone harassing or persecuting you is an ENTIRELY different matter, and will be handled accordingly. We do not tolerate malicious assholes and denigrating bullies.

The Snowhawk Clan - Frequently Asked Questions
    1. "What is the Snowhawk Clan?"
    2. "What is the overall purpose of the Snowhawk Clan?"
    3. "How large does the Snowhawk Clan plan to become?"
    4. "Is role-playing in the Snowhawk Clan required?"
    5. "What are the ranks that compose the Snowhawk Clan?"
    6. "Does the Snowhawk Clan have a voice-chat server?"
    7. "Does the Snowhawk Clan permit double-guilding?"
    1. "What is the Snowhawk Clan?"

The Snowhawk Clan -abbreviated as "SHC"- began in 2006 as a guild for Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures based on the lore of Robert E. Howard's Cimmerian Race. As part of simulating a barbaric tribe, we utilize a close-knit tribal structure governed by an egalitarian council of officers. The underlying premise is that we are a bloodthirsty clan of barbarians and take pleasure only in battle.

Now we have expanded our horizons toward other games and while we play many games across many different fantasy settings, the Snowhawk Clan maintains a vision based on proto-Celtic motifs, as well as cultural flavors from classical Germania and the Vikings.

    2. "What is the overall purpose of the Snowhawk Clan?"

The Snowhawk Clan is a online gaming guild founded for carefree enjoyment and as a simulation of a battle-hardened tribe of warriors. The purpose of our clan is to populate online games with a group of people that are interested in a close knit guild and the pursuit of PvP (Player vs. Player) confrontations.

We wish to encourage an atmosphere where the wars and aggression with our enemies have background, politicking, alliances and other such details, rather than just mindless fighting. We emphasize group play, and expect Snowhawks to assist eachother as opposed to being solo "master duelists". Player skill is icing on the cake for the Snowhawk Clan; we want dependable teammates first and foremost.

    3. "How large does the Snowhawk Clan plan to become?"

We do not want SHC to ever become an impersonal "zerg" guild. We believe the members we have and the standards we set will prevent that. There is no hard-cap on our roster, however we probably wouldn't want to exceed a guild population of ~50 active members.

We might freeze recruitment if we suddenly become swamped with too many new petitioners. In that scenario, the only people who could join our guild would be family members and/or close friends.

    4. "Is role-playing in the Snowhawk Clan required?"

The Snowhawk Clan is not a Roleplaying guild. We do not compel our members to role-play, and most of our members do not roleplay in the traditional sense. We believe in playing our characters and our guild as noble savages, barbaric fighters that adhere to a code of honor. We do not ask that you create a story or talk with players in taverns, only that you experience the game through the Clan theme.

Members of the Snowhawk Clan are expected to understand that there are fervent role-players though, and that they are to be accorded due respect. Those who do not wish to role-play must oblige and tolerate those who do. We are not trolls or griefers.

*We also expect that you type normally, and n0t leik u r a tru 1nt3rn3t 34DA$$ 1337dude, amirite? 420 errday brah. :rasta: Git gud, get rekt, rekkaroni, u mad, u salty, etc...

    5. "What are the ranks that compose the Snowhawk Clan?"

» Shorthair - Official applicants, on a trial basis pending final vote
» Snowhawk - Full guild members who have access to private forums and membership privileges.

The Council Fire is the decision making body of the Snowhawk Clan, composed of:

» [IMG] Scar Bearer - Grizzled veterans who are the backbone of the guild. They are dedicated members possessing loyalty to the Snowhawk Clan. Their primary function is to serve as trustworthy advisers offering wise counsel.
» [IMG] War Chief - Supervisory members who handle forum moderation and in-game leadership, taking upon themselves additional responsibilities in areas of need or interest (such as organizing raids, sieges, maintaining the Guild Bank, recruitment, coordinating groups, etc).
» [IMG] Clan Elder - Co-leading administrators of the Clan and its assets, responsible for the oversight of its direction and in maintaining the uniqueness of SHC as a mature body of friends dedicated to computer gaming.

    6. "Does the Snowhawk Clan have a voice-chat server?"

Yes, the Snowhawk Clan uses Discord for voice-chat. However, this server is semi-restricted to friends and members. We will provide our server information to all petitioners. Please contact Entaro if you need access.

    7. "Does the Snowhawk Clan permit double-guilding?"

Not generally. If you are spending the majority of your time in-game elsewhere, that is not conducive to membership here as we are trying to build a community of tight-knit friends. For any game that SHC has a major footprint in, like an MMO, we expect Snowhawks to be spending the majority of their time in-game with us.
