Anybody else catch the new spartacus show on Starz? More blood and guts and T&A packed into a single hour of television than I've ever seen before.

Done 300 style. I thought it was ok. CGI was crap, but it entertained me overall. Nothing on par with Rome, which I thought was excellent.

You can watch the first episode at starz.com. Definitely NSFW.

My buddy watched it... he said it was pretty damn good, he got it off the intraz-webz I believe.

I don't think I get the "Starz" channel up here in Canada-land, figures. Definitely looking forward to watching it, just not sure how I'm gonna do that yet.

I watched the first episode on Netflix. It was ok- definitely not nearly as good as Rome.

I was a little put off by the trailers. It seemed amateurish and perhaps second rate (compared to say, Rome or any HBO production). Nevertheless it seemed to have a cool theme and I am interested.

Yeah this series kinda surprised me. I watched the old Spartacus as a kid and remembered liking it alot so I thought I'd check out this series on Netflix even though I thought it would be subpar. Pretty damn good though.
Almost X-rated with all the orgies and the like - lol. Awesome arena fights too. Have to give it a thumbs up so far.
Oh yeah, and they say "Jupiter's cock" alot. Not sure if that's a plus or a minus, but it's funny almost every time I hear it.

I've watched them all so far and have grown to like the series more every week (I also thought the series started out "meh" but was still decent). I like the T&A for sure but I am a nerd in the sense that I like seeing all the different armors Spartacus wears. I especially liked the armor he had in episode 9, where he is laying in bed thinking back to all his most recent arena battles. ANYway . . . :kasharin:

One thing I am learning about the Romans is that they swear often and creatively . . . lol (Jupiter's c--k for example)

I never saw ROME but was told it was awesome so I may try to check it out.

:D :shc:

Sucks man... Andy Whitfield (aka Spartacus) has Lymphoma. Season 2 production has been halted.

Kinda crazy how he and Michael C. Hall (Dexter) both have the same shit.

Yeah thats too bad. Sounds like he might be ok though considering the early detection. Show was pretty awesome, and I seemed to notice the over-the-top CGI was toned down from start to finish. Season Finale was pretty awesome.

I agree. Seems like they were learning alot as they progressed through the season. Almost every episode was better than the one before. I think the one where he took out Claudius Glaber's men with a wooden sword was probably my favorite. That whole scene was like, "Yeah, kiss my ass you pompous Roman sonofabitch."

Hmm, maybe I'll have to give it another shot. I was really turned off of the show after a few episodes.

The first few I thought were rather so-so. Then it really started getting good with all the political intrigue and the power plays. The writing I thought was excellent, and I enjoyed Batiatus' character in particular.

Worth another shot in my opinion if you were among the many that had probably with the series based only on those first 3 episodes.

^ x2. Like the others said it really picked up momentum once the Capua plot started to pick up on it's own after the first few episodes. Great writing and twists.

The finale was awesome! I hope to see another season so I hope Andy will be OK . . . My only disappointment was that I wanted to see that cousin (Lykinnia - sp?) naked but she got perished . . . :diefarmer:

*pokes* Hey guys.

And for those who are fans of the series, they are doing multiple things:
- Andy (the actor of Spartacus) is now Cancer Free
- In July they are filming the 6 episode prequel series showing the Rise of the Ludus which airs in January
- As soon as they are done filming that, they are going right into Season 2, which I presume will air after the prequel airs
